In this last episode of 2022, we sat down with Licensed Professional Counselor-Associate Rebecca Werts to talk about investing in our mental health during the holidays and beyond. Rebecca is a dear friend and trusted professional. Her insights on the intersection of mental health and faith are powerful, and throughout this interview she gives us practical tools to navigate everything from grief to depression to anxiety. This is a must-listen to tend to your own health and wellness and also to be better equipped to support your friends and family in their mental health challenges.
Rebecca Werts is currently a doctoral student at the University of North Texas (UNT), pursuing her Ph.D. in Counselor Education. Through the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC), she is a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and a 2022-2023 Doctoral Minority Fellow for the NBCC Foundation. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (2013) and Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (2019), both from UNT. Through her clinical training, she has experience working with adults, adolescents, and groups, and is passionate about health and wellness for BIWOC (Black, Indigenous, Women of Color).
Rebecca’s areas of focus include grief/loss, anxiety, body image, self-esteem, and various forms of trauma. She also has experience in domestic violence work in the nonprofit sector. She believes that through therapy, individuals can gain the knowledge, awareness, clarity, and tools necessary to confidently navigate their life journey.
