ONE VILLAGE TRANSFORMED
WITH katie TOOP
Released on September 21, 2022
In this special interview, we were able to sit down with Katie Toop, the Senior Director of Transformational Development for World Concern. Katie grew up in the Seattle area but studied, worked, or served overseas for most of 13 years. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Physics and a Master of Science in Water and Environmental Management. Her international experience includes field-based positions and consultancies in both disaster response and community development in South and Central Asia and East Africa.
Katie joined World Concern in 2013 in South Sudan. Before becoming the Senior Director of Transformational Development, she served as World Concern’s Transformational Development Specialist for Africa, based in Nairobi. She loves teaching and facilitating, meeting new people, learning about new cultures, and leading worship. Compelled by God’s heart of relentless love for the poor and oppressed, her passion and commitment is to demonstrate compassion and promote justice.
In this interview, Katie unpacks how she discovered her calling, what working overseas has taught her, and how working in the non-profit sector has personally changed her life. We’ll also discuss the truly transformational work of World Concern, and how we can each help end the cycle of poverty for those living in some of the most rural and remote places in the world today.
