Happy Women’s History Month! throughout this month we have weekly devotionals at Iridescent Women to highlight profound moments in scripture where Jesus brought radical healing, hope and empowerment to women.
Today, we are reading from Luke 10:38-42. In Jesus’ time to sit at the feet of a rabbi implied that you were being discipled by him. It was unheard of for a woman to be in this position in Jesus’ time period, and yet Mary and Martha were not only invited to enter into this form of discipleship with Jesus. Let’s take a closer look at the worries and distractions that keep us from sitting at the feet of Jesus, and how to make space to be with Jesus daily.
Questions for reflection:
- Do I ever feel like Martha– worried and upset about many things?
- How can I choose the posture of Mary and spend time this week being with Jesus?
